On the ferry from Oban to Craignure, Isle of mull. I step back in time to a place from long ago (date). Duart castle the home of the McLean clan for over 700 years. It seems so peaceful sitting there on the shores of the Sound of Mull and Loch Linnhe.
I arrive to Mull with a sense of excitement and a feeling in my solar plexus that can’t be described. I am picked up at the ferry by Matthew and the excitement arises all over again, is this really really REAL. For a moment, It is as though I have been dropped back in time. We drive along the single lane track. The sheep, the highland cows and the red deer greet us along the way.

We stopped at Ben Buie and step out of the car. My shoes immediately came off to feel the dew on my feet. The mist blew onto my face, I closed my eyes and took a deep breath in. Filling my soul with so much gratitude.
The simpleness of life surrounds me. Very few houses along the way, the pink granite mounds stand out like trees ( as there aren’t many of those). It is so majestic.
After an hour we pull into the road to Kintra. “Wow! stop the car I just want to take this moment in”.
In the distance is the sea specked with islands. I am yet to figure out the names of them all.
We round the bend and are at the croft.
I am greeted by Nigel, Rosie, and Ruth. They are busy with all that needs to be done.
Finally we walk down a path rich in peat. I can feel how squishy it is under my feet. Formed 6000 years ago when the post-glacial climate became wet.
We come upon the yurt. It is a Mongolian yurt with a beautiful red decorated door. As I enter knowing this is my home for the next four months, I am filled with wonder of what is to come.
What struck me the most is the simpleness of space. The view from inside (photo) takes me to the willows, and the bog myrtle. Beyond is the bracken, which is everywhere. Here it is also used as compost. I say compOst, they say cOmpost. It also provides home for some of the rare varieties of butterfly including the small pearl- bordered fritillary.
My view, my internal knowing is coming alive.
It’s that simple, really
